Eagles Top Achiever Awards

altSince 1997, Eagles Youth Partnership, in partnership with Philadelphia Futures, a non-profit organization whose goal is to help kids do well in school while preparing for college and careers, has recognized 926 scholar-athletes for their academic excellence. Varsity football players from Allentown, Camden, Chester, Philadelphia and Reading who maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or higher are invited to an awards ceremony and reception at the NovaCare Complex with their families and football coaches.

Head coach Andy Reid and long snapper Jon Dorenbos recognized 82 high school scholar-athletes for having maintained at least a 3.0 grade point average during their 2008 football seasons. This year, honorees from Allentown, Camden, Chester, Philadelphia and Reading school districts received a custom-made shirt, an Eagles football autographed by Dorenbos and a certificate commemorating their excellent scholastic achievements. The high school football player with the highest academic average at each school spent one day as a VIP at the Philadelphia Eagles Training Camp.

The 12th annual "Eagles Top Achiever Awards" ceremony, sponsored by Eagles Youth Partnership (EYP) in conjunction with Philadelphia Futures, has recognized more than 900 scholar-athletes since 1997. EYP brings hope, health and educational resources to more than 50,000 young people throughout the Philadelphia region, leveraging the star power of the Philadelphia Eagles to positively influence their behavior. EYP is proud to recognize high school football players who have earned distinguished academic records and hopes to continue motivating student athletes to excel.

Congratulations to all of the 2008 Top Achievers!
